Sunday the St. Albert Raiders host the Red Deer Chiefs in the last game before the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs.
Faceoff is 1:15 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The Raiders (17-9-7) are winless in four games, including two shutout losses, while outscored 24-8.
The Raiders are 1-6 in their last seven contests after posting nine wins in a row during a 16-game (13-0-3) undefeated streak.
Red Deer (11-16-5), the five-time defending provincial champion, ranks seventh in the eight-team south division.
The Raiders are one point behind the second-place Lloydminster Bobcats (19-9-4) in the north standings but the Border City team has a game in hand.
The top two teams in both the north and south earn first-round byes.
If the Raiders remain in third place, they would play the sixth-place team in the best-of-three opening round.
Last year the Raiders finished fifth at 18-11-6 and in the best-of-five north final lost to the Bobcats in four games.
The St. Albert Flyers skate tonight against the Maple Leafs in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
Game time is 6:30 p.m. at Kenilworth Arena.
In the north division the midget 15 Flyers (24-4-5) trail the first-place SSAC Bulldogs by three points and the Maple Leafs (14-13-6) are fourth in the standings.
The Bulldogs have two games in hand on the Flyers, who dropped a 3-2 decision to SSAC last weekend in Edmonton. It was the first loss after five wins during a 15-0-2 undefeated streak.
The Flyers rebounded to beat the Leduc Oil Kings 5-3 Tuesday at Akinsdale Arena.
Samuel Smith-Ackerl, Leif Mattson and Brett Mossing struck shorthanded and Peter Corrigan and Peter Michailides connected at even strength as the Flyers improved their home record to 15-0-2.
Mattson also collected two assists. He leads all AMMHL scorers with 84 points in 34 games and ranks second in goals with 42.
Shot were 41-37 for Leduc (8-19-5) and Nate Reinhart (10-2-2, 2.68 GAA) of the Flyers was in net.
Tonight the St. Albert Lady Raiders entertain the Edmonton Lightning in the Alberta Major Bantam Female Hockey League.
Puck drop is 7:45 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The Lightning (12-6-4) are five points ahead of the fourth-place Raiders (10-9-3) in the north standings.
Last weekend the Raiders lost 6-1 to the Rocky Mountain Raiders in Cochrane and defeated the Calgary Rangers 5-2 in Cow Town.
In the south division, Rocky Mountain (17-4-1) is first and the Rangers (6-10-5) are fourth.
The Raiders are 3-4 in 2015.
Sophie Lalor is the team’s top scorer with 27 goals and 36 points and Brandy Steinman ranks second with 16 goals and 32 points.
