Metro Edmonton high school basketball resumes league play after the exam break and today’s schedule for the St. Albert and Sturgeon senior men’s and women’s teams is as follows:Division one women
St. Albert Skyhawks (5-0) at Archbishop MacDonald Marauders (5-1), 5 p.m.
The Skyhawks are No. 9 and the Marauders are an honourable mention in the 4A provincial rankings.
Paul Kane Blues (5-0) at Salisbury Sabres (5-1), 6:30 p.m.
Paul Kane is No. 2 in the 4A provincial rankings.
Division two women
Sturgeon Spirits (5-0) host Memorial Marauders (3-2), 5:30 p.m.
Sturgeon is No. 5 in the 3A provincial rankings.
Division three women
Bellerose Bulldogs (5-0) host Louis St. Laurent Barons (2-2), 6:30 p.m.
Division two men
Bellerose (4-1) at Beaumont Bandits (2-3), 5 p.m.
Paul Kane (0-5) hosts Oscar Romero Ravens (3-3), 5:30 p.m.
The Ravens are No. 7 in the 3A provincial rankings.
Division three men
Sturgeon (2-3) at St. Joseph Saints (2-3), 5:30 p.m.
Upcoming in the division two men’s league is the Skyhawks (1-6) versus Paul Kane at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the SkyDome.
Sabres at home
The St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres have six games remaining before the playoffs after hosting the Sherwood Park Flyers tonight in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.Faceoff is 7:45 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The Sabres (21-2-6) and Flyers (17-8-5) are first and second in the nitro north division.
The fifth win in a row during a 19-game undefeated streak at 15-0-4 was the 3-0 decision against the Lloydminster Bobcats (9-17-4) last weekend in St. Albert.
Graeme Hampton, Zachry Desranleau (power play) and Palmer Strang (empty net) scored and Carson Ironside (11-2-2, 1.77 GAA) posted his fourth shutout this season while stopping 25 shots.
Saturday the Sabres visit the Camrose Red Wings (6-21-1) at 1:45 p.m. and Sunday’s home game against the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers (11-14-5) starts at 3:45 p.m. at the Akinsdale rink.
Sharks at Pandas
The midget elite St. Albert Sharks face-off against the Edmonton Pandas tonight in the Alberta Female Hockey League.Puck drop is 7:45 p.m. at Bill Hunter Arena.
The Sharks (16-2) are first and the Pandas (7-10-1) are third in the north division.
The last game for the Sharks was 4-0 Friday against the Peace Country Storm (9-9) in St. Albert.
Holly Borrett (10-0, 1.02 GAA) stopped 21 shots for her third shutout and the team's fifth of the season.
Aidan Soltis, Kylie Foisy (power play), Annika Neset and Madison Murray scored and Soltis added two assists.
