Game times for the Sharks and midget AA and bantam AA teams

PUSHING PAST – Hayden Carlson of the St. Albert Source for Sports Crusaders follows the puck through opening between a pair of Wainwright Polar Kings in the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League. Last month’s 5-3 loss to the Polar Kings (17-3-1) in St. Albert was only the third of the season for the defending league champions. Tonight the Crusaders (19-3-2) host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (7-11-4) at 8:30 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena.

Sharks versus Fury

The midget elite St. Albert Sharks can distance themselves from the Sherwood Park Fury in the north division standings with a victory today in the Alberta Female Hockey League.

Faceoff is 5:30 p.m. at Sherwood Park Arena.

The first-place Slash (12-6) have played three less games than the Fury (10-2-3) and the last tilt between the teams was 3-2 for the Sharks last week in St. Albert.

The top AFHL team overall is Calgary Fire White (16-3-1), the 2018 provincial champion.

The first loss after four consecutive victories for the Sharks was Sunday’s 3-2 result against Calgary Fire Red (12-2-1) at Southland Leisure Centre.

Unassisted goals by Sierra Whillans and Kirsten Legge (power play) in the second period made it 2-1.

Calgary tied it with the man advantage 10 seconds into the third and the go-ahead goal was scored at 13:29.

Shots were 24-16 for the Sharks with Layla Hood (7-4, 1.73 GAA) in net.

The next home game for last year’s provincial finalists is Jan. 26 against the Lloydminster Steelers (6-12) at 2:30 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena.

Midget AA action

The St. Albert Source for Sports Crusaders host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons tonight in the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League.

Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena.

The Crusaders (19-3-2), winners of four straight, are ranked No. 1 in the 23-team league as the Besa division leaders and the Barons (7-11-4) are third in the Bouchier division.

The St. Albert Blues (9-9-4) also skate today against the Maple Leafs (6-12-4) at 5:15 p.m. at Confederation Arena.

The Blues, 2-1-1 in the last five games, are fourth in the Besa standings and the Maple Leafs are third in the Anderson division.

Bantam AA games

Upcoming games for the three St. Albert teams in the blue division of the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League are as follows:

Today at 1:45 p.m. the Comets (4-13-6) face off against the PAC Broncos (3-15-5) at Akinsdale Arena.

Friday the Comets played MLAC Reliable Tube (2-20-1) at Kenilworth Arena but the score was unavailable at press time.

Tonight at 7 p.m. the Elite Pro Marketing Blues (11-9-2) visit the PAC Timberwolves (6-10-5) at Glenn Hall Centennial Arena and Monday’s start time is 8:30 p.m. against the Broncos at Go Auto Arena.

Sunday the Bears (12-6-4) and Lakeland Panthers (14-2-4) tangle at 5 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
