Midget AA games
The Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League season is underway for the Stadium Sportswear Blues and Source for Sports Crusaders of St. Albert.Thursday the Blues hosted the SSAC Canadian Brewhouse but the score was unavailable at press time, and Sunday’s game against the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers starts at 7:45 p.m. at JRC Arena.
The Crusaders visit the Leduc Roughnecks at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday the 2018 NAHL champions host the Sturgeon Sting at 8:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The NAHL lid-lifter for the Besa division teams was Sunday’s 8-2 win for the Crusaders over the Blues.
The Crusaders posted period leads of 3-1 and 6-2.
Four-point performances by Ethan Pool and Carter Albrecht included Pool’s natural hat trick and three assists by Albrecht.
Maddox Nollski potted a pair while Cuyler Matheson and Ronin Pusch notched singles.
Noah Wilson and Zachary Chizen replied for the Blues, and Brooks Robinson assisted on both goals.
Tending the twine were Evan Hergott (19 saves) of the Crusaders and Kyle Nelson (34 saves) of the Blues.
Bantam AA games
St. Albert’s three Blue division teams in the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League have games scheduled during the Thanksgiving long weekend.Friday’s score between the Comets (0-1) and the visiting Leduc Roughnecks was unavailable at press time, and Monday’s start time is 7:15 p.m. against the PAC Timberwolves at Grant Fuhr Arena.
The Elite Pro Marketing Blues (1-0-1) are in Sherwood on Sunday to play the Leafs at 5:15 p.m.
Sunday the Bears (1-0-1) and Roughnecks face off at 11 a.m. in Leduc.
The Bears and Blues squared off Wednesday and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Jonah Boutin of the Blues opened the scoring in the first period and Ayden Caccia of the Bears tied it with 6:58 remaining.
The netminders were Nathan Elaschuk (32 saves) of the Blues and Lucas Cadger (25 saves) of the Bears.
REM 15 Royals
Sunday’s season debut for the St. Albert Royals in the Rural & Edmonton Midget 15AA Hockey League is against the PAC Saints.Puck drop is 7 p.m. at Tri-Leisure Centre.
The first home game for the 2018 REM playoff finalists is Oct. 19 against SSAC APD ACDelco at 12:15 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena.
