Saturday’s result against the Edmonton Chargers will determine when and where the St. Albert Storm will huddle up in the midget spring league’s division one playoffs in the Capital District Minor Football Association.

Kickoff is 3 p.m. at Clarke Park and admission is $5.

The Storm, Millwoods Grizzlies and Battle River Shock share last place at 1-3 and the Chargers are ranked second at 3-1 in the six-team standings.

A Storm win would increase their odds of qualifying for the May 2 semifinals at Clarke Park instead of the May 5 consolation game involving the bottom two teams at Riel Recreation Park.

The Storm are coming off a 41-18 drubbing at the hands of the 4-0 Parkland Predators on Friday in St. Albert.

The Storm’s only win was 14-10 over the visiting Shock.

Last year in division two, the Storm finished 2-4 overall and both victories were against the winless Leduc Cats, including the 42-0 consolation contest.

Two years ago, the Storm struggled to win a game in the Tier 1/2 division after going 2-4 as the Tier 2 playoff winners in 2012.

The midget spring league features players in Grade 9 who have completed their bantam eligibility and Grade 10 and 11 players.

Three players from the St. Albert Fury were selected to the north all-star team for the Football Alberta Bantam Bowl on May 18 in Lethbridge.

Representing the undefeated 2014 Capital District Minor Football Association bantam Tier 3 champions on the 40-man north roster are receiver Jesse Stuht, offensive lineman Jacob Parent and defensive lineman Colten Samuelson.

Last weekend’s tryouts at Foote Field featured the top graduating Grade 9 bantams in northern Alberta.
