Impact Men
The St. Albert Impact 1 Men are facing off this week against the Croatia Dinamo.On Thursday night the first place Impact (8-1-1), who have a six-point lead in the standings, will battle the third place team (6-2-1).
The two teams have already played against each other once this year in their season openers. The Impact won the match with a final score of 1-0.
The St. Albert squad has scored 32 goals this year with Marcus Velado-Tsegaye leading the team with six goals and Prince Amanda David with five. The Dinamo have racked up 20 goals for the season, lead by Philip Pavicic, who has scored six times since the season began at the beginning of May.
The game starts at 7 p.m. on July 5 at the Croatia Soccer Club.
Lacrosse
The St. Albert Senior B Miners are facing off this Saturday against the Calgary Raiders.The local club is going into the game undefeated, winning all 12 of their games this year. The squad has scored 163 goals throughout the season and allowed only 65 goals against, earning them 24 points to top the standings.
The Calgary club has won only two of their 14 games and has only four points in the standings. The Raiders are leading the league in penalty minuets with 385 minutes served in the box. St. Albert has the fewest penalty minutes with only 88 for the season.
The two teams have faced off two times this season, with St. Albert taking both matches. The Miners defeated the Raiders on May 12 with a final score of 16-6 and the St. Albert squad won again on June 17, blowing out the opposition with a final score of 20-3.
The game is on Saturday night from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Servus Go Auto Arena.
St. Albert Tigers
On Friday night the Senior AAA St. Albert Tigers will be facing off against the Confederation Park Cubs in the Sunburst Baseball League.
The third-place local squad has won three of their seven games so far this season. The Cubs are in first place after they won five of their six games.
The two teams have faced off twice this year already, with the Cubs taking wins in both games.
Their third game of the season starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night at Legion Memorial Ball Park.
