Slash playoffs
The St. Albert Ron Hodgson Slash host the Edmonton Pandas in playoff action this weekend in the Alberta Female Hockey League.Game times are 2:15 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Sunday at Go Auto Arena.
The Slash (19-8-1) and Pandas (5-20-3) finished second and sixth, respectively, in the six-team midget AAA division.
The AFHL provincials are March 22 to 25 in Red Deer and the winner advances to the best-of-three Pacific Regional playoff, April 6 to 8 in British Columbia.
The 10th annual Esso Cup is April 21 to 29 in Bridgewater, N.S. and the Slash are the defending national champions.
U16B provincials
The Ringette Alberta U16B provincial championship is underway at Servus Credit Union Place.The 12-team tournament started Friday morning and ends Sunday with the medal finals at 12:30 p.m. for bronze and 2:15 p.m. for gold at Go Auto Arena.
The St. Albert Ringette Association is represented by Chaos and Steel.
The last pool games today for both teams are 8 a.m. for Steel against Bowview Adrenaline and 9:30 a.m. for Chaos against Lacombe Edge.
The playoffs begin at 3 p.m. today.

In the north provincial playdowns, Chaos (1-1-1) and Steel (1-2) finished second in their respective pools.
Soccer weekend
Thirty indoor soccer teams are kicking it at the Dieter Knobloch Memorial Adult Tournament.The St. Albert Soccer Association is hosting the co-ed and women’s competition at Servus Credit Union Place.
Today's last game wraps up at 10 p.m. and Sunday’s action runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tonight’s marquee match between Mavericks 09 and Morinville Ladies of the St. Albert Women’s Soccer League kicks off at 7 p.m.
AFHL Raiders
Game two in the bantam elite female playoff series between the St. Albert Raiders and Edmonton Pandas starts 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Akinsdale Arena.The round two opener in the Alberta Female Hockey League’s north division was played Friday in St. Albert and the score was unavailable at press time.
The AFHL provincials are March 22 to 25 at Grande Prairie.
The Raiders (18-6-2) finished first and the Pandas (14-11-1) placed fourth in the north standings.
Kate-Lyn Charko led the Raiders in scoring with 21 points and Bronwyn Boucher posted a team-high 11 goals.
