Junior Bulldogs

The first regular season loss since 2011 for the Bellerose Bulldogs in metro Edmonton junior football was Tuesday’s 54-6 shellacking by the Jasper Place Rebels at Johnny Bright Park. The Rebels also ended four consecutive undefeated championships by the Bulldogs in last year’s 27-11 division one semifinal in the metro Edmonton league. The only high school junior football team in St. Albert is now 36-2-1 in league and playoffs combined since losing the 2011 semifinal. The Rebels (3-1), last year's champions, carved up the Bellerose defence with a double wing in a game that was stopped short due to an ambulance call when Jonas Hazelaar injured his back. Zach Froese scored on a quarterback designed run for the Bulldogs (2-1-1). The next game is Tuesday versus the Memorial Marauders (0-4) at 6 p.m. at Larry Olexiuk Field.
