The St. Albert Tigers swing the bats twice in three days on their home diamond in the Sunburst Baseball League.
The Tigers (2-3) host the Parkland White Sox (1-3) tonight and the Confederation Park Cubs (3-3) Friday at Legion Memorial Park. Game times are 7:30 p.m.
Last weekend the Tigers defeated Parkland 9-3 in Spruce Grove as Craig Tomas twirled a four-hit gem while striking out eight in nine innings of work. Parkland scored all of its runs in one inning.
At the plate John McHugh had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Darren Adams also doubled while batting 3-for-4 with one RBI. Brandon Barr went 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored.
The midget AA St. Albert Cardinals improved their overall record to 13-0-1 while winning the Doc Plotsky Memorial Tournament last weekend at Goldstick Park Sports Fields.
Scores were 14-0 against South Jasper Place, 11-4 against the Sherwood Park Athletics, 14-1 against the Saskatoon Athletics and 13-0 over the Edmonton Angels in the final.
This weekend the Cardinals are in Olds for three games. The team’s league record is 6-0.
The St. Albert Cardinals carried a 5-3 provincial round record into Tuesday’s game against the Spruce Grove White Sox.
The score from Legion Memorial Park was unavailable at press time.
Last weekend the Cardinals split two doubleheaders at home against Okotoks teams.
Saturday the Cardinals lost 10-2 and 5-0 to Dawgs Black.
Greg Student and Isaiah Gionet stroked two hits apiece in game one.
In the second tilt the Cardinals managed only three hits against strong pitching. Okotoks was limited to four hits, but got them all in one inning while scoring five times. Cole Seitz started on the mound.
Sunday the Cardinals swept Dawgs Red by identical 11-1 scores.
Tylor Jans surrendered one run in five innings as the Cardinals mercied the visitors in game one. Peter Corrigan banged out three hits and Landon Bishop added a pair. Corrigan and Seitz drove home two runs each.
In game two Student scattered three hits over five innings while allowing one unearned run. Ross Supruniuk tossed one inning of relief in his first game back from an early season lower-body injury. Corrigan, Seitz, Zach Froment and Joseph Karalla recorded multiple hit games.
This weekend the Cardinals travel to Fort McMurray for a three-game series.
