The St. Albert Tigers will show their stripes against the senior AAA provincial champions in the Sunburst Baseball League.
The Tigers (7-6) host the Red Deer Riggers (6-4) Friday and July 3 at Legion Memorial Park. Game times are 7:30 p.m.
Earlier in the month, the Riggers edged the Tigers 3-2 in Red Deer.
Last week, the Tigers recorded their fifth win in six league games, 5-0 over the Athletics (6-6) in Sherwood Park.
Meanwhile, the annual Tigers Baseball Association tournament is scheduled for July 10 to 12 and one of the teams confirmed is the midget AAA St. Albert Cardinals.
The St. Albert Senior Cardinals swept Monday’s doubleheader against the Edmonton Heat in the Alberta West Central Baseball Association.
The Cardinals are 6-3 in the 30-plus circuit after beating the Heat 15-0 and 12-6 at Legion Memorial Park.
David Ross and Darren Milne combined on a no-hitter in the first game. Justin Watamaniuk, Dave Edwards and Travis Parker turned a slick 4-6-3 double play to close it out.
In the second game, Edwards pitched four strong innings as the Cardinals built up a 10-2 lead. Matt Edwards tossed one inning of relief and Parker worked the last two innings.
The Cardinals host the Edmonton Blues at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
The St. Albert Cardinals have two games on tap Saturday in the NorWest Midget AAA Baseball League.
The Cardinals play Okotoks Dawgs Black (11-2) at 1 p.m. and the first-year Grande Prairie Reds (0-18) at 7 p.m.
The Cardinals’ record, as posted on the NorWest’s new iscore website, is 8-4.

At the plate, Mat Brisson drove home Anthony Owen in the sixth inning and on the mound Brisson combined with Tylor Jans on a seven-hitter in the shutout. Brisson threw a six-hitter while walking five and striking-out four.
The White Sox left 10 men on base and committed two errors.
White Sox starter Ben Erwin allowed seven hits, fanned three and walked one in six innings.
Connor Bronson stroked two hits for the Cardinals.
Spencer Dronkelaar’s solo homer opened the scoring in the third inning of the 4-2 victory.
Erik Sabrowski went the distance for the Cardinals. He gave up five hits, whiffed seven batters and walked one.
Tonight’s bantam AAA game between the St. Albert Cardinals and Spruce Grove White Sox starts at 7 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
Last weekend, the Cardinals dropped three games to the visiting Fort McMurray Oil Giants by scores of 13-2, 5-4 and 11-10.
The Cardinals are 6-9, Fort McMurray is 12-6 and the White Sox are 7-7 in the latest Baseball Alberta provincial round update.
This weekend, the Cardinals are in Okotoks for a three-game series against Dawgs Black (12-2).
The St. Albert Cardinals host a peewee AAA doubleheader against the South Jasper Place Jays at Legion Memorial Park Sunday.
