CWG ringette
Today’s exhibition between the Alberta and Saskatchewan ringette teams at the Canada Winter Games starts 10 a.m. at Go Auto Arena.Admission is free.
Team Alberta features Vail Ketsa, Lauren Miller, netminder Jordyn Scott and coach Heather Konkin of the U19AA St. Albert Mission.
The CWG runs Feb. 15 to March 3 in Red Deer.
Skyhawks hoops
The St. Albert Skyhawks return to the hardwood Monday in metro Edmonton division one women’s basketball.The Skyhawks (3-0) host the Harry Ainlay Titans (0-3) at 5:30 p.m. at the SkyDome.
Wednesday the 2018 division one champions and 4A provincial bronze medallists are in Sherwood Park to play the Archbishop Jordan Scots (0-3) at 6:30 p.m.
The division two men’s Skyhawks (2-2) are the visitors Monday against the Queen Elizabeth Knights (1-1) at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday against the Oscar Romero Ravens (0-4) at 5 p.m.
Paul Kane hoops
First place is on the line in metro Edmonton division two men’s basketball Monday at the home of the Paul Kane Blues.Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. between the Blues (4-0) and Holy Trinity Trojans (3-0).
Wednesday the Blues entertain the Bev Facey Falcons (1-3) at 5:30 p.m.
The lady Blues (3-1), last year’s division one semifinalists and 4A provincial consolation champions, are back in action Wednesday against the host Leduc Tigers (3-0) at 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the 12-team Paul Kane Invitational tips off Friday morning.
The tournament consists of 13 games at Paul Kane and seven at the SkyDome.
Teams competing are Paul Kane, St. Albert Skyhawks, Bellerose Bulldogs, Bishop Carroll Cardinals of Calgary, Catholic Central Cougars of Lethbridge, Harry Ainlay Titans, La Crete Lancers, Medicine Hat Kwahommies, Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds, St. Mary’s Saints of Calgary, Strathcona Lords and the two-time defending champion Jasper Place Rebels.
Bellerose hoops
Monday the Bellerose Bulldogs challenge the defending champion Spruce Grove Panthers in metro Edmonton division two men’s basketball.Tipoff is 5:30 p.m. at Spruce Grove.
The Bulldogs (2-2) lost the 2018 final to the Panthers in overtime 107-102 and at last month's Rise Up tournament in Namao fell 71-61 to Spruce Grove.
Wednesday’s doubleheader at Bellerose starts at 5 p.m. with the division two men playing the J. Percy Page Panthers (2-2) and the division three women’s match at 6:30 p.m. features the Bulldogs (2-1) and McNally Tigers (0-4).
The lady Bulldogs, division three finalists the last two years, kick off the week Monday against the host Austin O’Brien Crusaders (1-3) at 5:30 p.m.
