Blue Jays Honda Super Camp
The Blue Jays will soar into town next week for their annual summer Honda Super Camp.Jays alumni will descend on St. Albert to teach young ball players some technical skills and inspire the next generation. This year, the camp will bring alumni Jesse Barfield, Homer Bush and Duane Ward to St. Albert.
The camp first came to town in 2016 after a lot of hustle and hard work by the St. Albert Minor Baseball Association and the technical director, Travis Parker. The first year the camp sold out with 170 local players from ages nine to 16 taking part.
In 2017, the camp came to town again, headlined by former two-time World Series winner and 12-time all-star Roberto Alomar. Other Blue Jays alumni in attendance were Mario Diaz, Lloyd Moseby, Rance Mulliniks, Tanyon Sturtze, and Ward.
Every summer, the camps travel across Canada and this year they will hit 14 cities from coast to coast. The St. Albert camp, which is sold out, will run on July 17 and 18 at Legion Memorial Ballpark.
Alberta Summer Games
The provincial Summer Games will take over Grande Prairie this year with St. Albert players representing Zone 5 (Black Gold/Yellowhead).Some 45 athletes will be heading north from St. Albert to compete in events like rugby, football, baseball, basketball and track and field.
The July 19 to 22 competition for athletes 11 to 17 years old consists of 13 sports and more than 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials from eight zones will participate.

Impact Soccer
The men’s Premier Impact 1 squad dominated the White Eagles/AC Milan 1 team with a final score of 6-3 on Thursday night.The win earns the home team a few more points, pushing them six points ahead of the second-place Emerald Exports 1, who have 26 points. The Impact have 10 wins, one loss and two ties for the season.
The Impact are comfortably sitting in first place after their game against the sixth-place White Eagles/AC Milan, who have five wins, seven losses and one tie for the year.
Abraham Dukuly and Marcus Velado-Tsegaye are leading the Impact and the league in scoring with eight goals each. Prince Amanda David is close behind with seven goals.
The Impact men will take on the eighth-place Africana FC on Monday night. The two teams have squared off once before this season, with the Impact winning 3-2.
The game starts at 7 p.m. at Riel Park.
Sr. AA Junior Cardinals drop two
On Sunday afternoon, the Junior Cardinals Sr. AA played a doubleheader against the Sherwood Park Athletics but were not able to take home a win.In the first game of the day, the Cardinals lost 8-5. They were shut out 7-0 in the second one.
So far this year, the Cardinals have won 10 games and lost seven.
Their next game is on the road against the Westlock Red Lions on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
