The Bellerose Bulldogs are competing in the men’s and women’s divisions at the Rise Up tournament today at Sturgeon Composite High School.

In the men’s bracket, the consolation final is 12:30 p.m., the third-place game is 2:15 p.m. and the final is 5:45 p.m.

The women’s bracket includes the 12:30 p.m. consolation final, the 2:15 p.m. third-place game and the 4 p.m. final.

Last weekend the Bellerose men finished 2-2 at the 19th annual Mike Dea Classic at St. Francis Xavier High School.

The Bulldogs lost 94-71 to the Leboldus Golden Suns of Regina, defeated the M.E. Lazerte Voyageurs 75-64, fell 75-51 to the Jasper Place Rebels and beat the Lloydminster Barons 70-57.

The metro Edmonton men’s league tipped off this week for the division two pool B Bulldogs with two games at Bellerose. Scores were 67-63 for the pool A Memorial Marauders in Monday’s exhibition and 93-53 over the Austin O’Brien Crusaders on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs resume league play Monday against the host Ardrossan Bisons (1-0) at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday against the Sturgeon Spirits (0-1) at 5 p.m. at Bellerose.

The men’s roster features five Grade 12s and four returnees from the last-place 1-12 division one team last season. The only win was 83-77 against the Paul Kane Blues on Seniors Night at Bellerose.

Meanwhile, the division three lady Bulldogs play the Bisons (0-1) at 5 p.m. Monday in Ardrossan and the St. John Paul II Patriots (1-0) of Fort Saskatchewan at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bellerose.

The league opener for the Bulldogs was Wednesday’s 44-40 loss to the visiting Crusaders (1-0).

The Paul Kane Blues are in Sherwood Park today for the men’s tournament hosted by the Strathcona Christian Academy Eagles.

Last weekend the Blues lost the consolation final at the 24th annual Totem Hoop Classic by a score of 61-60 to the Strathcona Lords at Ross Sheppard High School.

The Blues dropped the tournament opener 77-47 to the Edmonton Christian Lions before rebounding to beat the McNally Tigers 75-68.

The next metro Edmonton division two pool B game is 6:30 p.m. Monday against the Eagles in Sherwood Park.

The Blues started off the season with wins of 85-64 against the pool A Archbishop MacDonald Marauders in Monday’s exhibition and 72-53 against the Sturgeon Spirits (0-1) in Wednesday’s home opener.

Last season the Blues finished 2-11 in division one.

The first metro Edmonton division two pool B men’s game of the season for the St. Albert Skyhawks is Monday against the Salisbury Sabres.

Tipoff is 5 p.m. at the SkyDome.

The Skyhawks made their home debut in Monday’s 67-61 exhibition win against the pool A Louis St. Laurent Barons.

Today the Skyhawks are hooping it up at the Strathcona Christian Academy tournament in Sherwood Park.

Last season the Skyhawks’ division two pool B record was 4-5.
