Tonight at 6:30 p.m. the Paul Kane Blues host the winless Archbishop MacDonald Marauders in metro Edmonton division one women’s action.

Monday’s home game against the Bev Facey Falcons (2-6) was cancelled because of the cold weather and will be rescheduled before the playoffs start Feb. 25.

Paul Kane is 4-1 in league play and 11-6 overall after the St. Mary’s Saints Senior Classic last weekend in Calgary.

Paul Kane dropped the tournament opener 53-41 to the Cardston Cougars before rebounding to defeat the Foothills Falcons of Okotoks 94-40 and William Aberhart Orange of Calgary 70-42.

Paul Kane struggled out of the gate after the exam break with a 1-for-16 showing from three-point territory and was 8-for-22 from the foul line against Cardston. The team’s top three scorers were also in single digits.

Ella Stanley drained 24 points against Foothills and Jules Froment provided 22.

Stanley, a tournament all-star, punished William Aberhart with 18 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and six blocks.

Froment chipped in with 17 points and Raeesa Cherniwchan had 14.

The last tournament of the year for the 2018 division one semifinalists and 4A provincial consolation champions is Tri-Prov, hosted by the Harry Ainlay Titans, and the first game is 3 p.m. Thursday against Cardston at Louis St. Laurent High School.

Depending on the result, Paul Kane plays Raymond or the Duchess Park Condors of Prince George at 4 p.m. Friday at Harry Ainlay.

In four tournaments, Paul Kane was the finalist at the REB Invitational in December at Jasper Place and at its home tournament last month.
