Bantam AAA
The bantam AAA St. Albert Cardinals host a doubleheader weekend with games against the Camrose Cougars and Okotoks Dawgs Black at Legion Memorial Park.The Cardinals (15-8) play today at 12 noon against Camrose (8-4) and 6 p.m. against Okotoks (12-2) and Sunday’s start times are 10 a.m. against Okotoks and 4 p.m. against Camrose.
Last weekend the Cardinals posted wins of 4-2 against Calgary Cubs White (7-8) and 5-0 against the Fort McMurray Oil Giants (2-11).
Thursday’s score against the Parkland Twins (10-1) in Spruce Grove was unavailable at press time.
SARFC matches
The Alberta Cup premier men’s tilt between the St. Albert Rugby Football Club and the Nor’Westers at 4 p.m. today at Ellerslie Rugby Park has been postponed.SARFC requested the match be rescheduled because of the unavailability of head coach Jeremy Kyne.
SARFC is 2-1 (87 PF/86 PA) and the Nor’Westers, the defending Labatt’s Cup provincial champions, are 3-0 (118 PF/53 PA).
The premier side is back on the pitch next Saturday against the Strathcona Druids (0-2, 12 PF/108 PA) at 4 p.m. at Lynn Davies Rugby Park.
Meanwhile, in the Alberta premier women’s league, SARFC (1-1, 82 PF/39 PA) lines up today against the Saracens (3-2, 217 PF/112 PA) in Calgary at 3 p.m.
Also, the Edmonton Rugby Union mini youth festival for the U5 to U15 age groups kicks off this morning at SARFC.
Midget AAA
The St. Albert Blue Cardinals swing into action today in the Norwest Midget AAA Baseball League.Game times are 3 and 6 p.m. against the Foothills Dawgs at Legion Memorial Park.
The Cardinals (4-13) and Dawgs (6-8) are slotted in the Tier 2 division after the first round of league play.
The Cardinals are 7-15 overall as one of two St. Albert Minor Baseball Association teams in the Norwest circuit.
Junior AAA
The junior AAA St. Albert Cardinals round the bases in Sunday’s doubleheader at Legion Memorial Park.The Cardinals (5-1) are up to bat at 10 a.m. against Barrhead (3-3) and 4 p.m. against the first-place Innisfail Merchants (6-2).
Thursday the Cardinals played the Community Park Cubs (2-6) in St. Albert but the score was unavailable at press time.
The second-place Cardinals were winners of five in a row after losing the May 13 season opener 9-5 to the Merchants in Innisfail.
