Bantam AA game
Tonight’s game between the St. Albert Comets and St. Albert Elite Promotion Marketing Blues in the Edmonton Rural Bantam AA Hockey League starts at 8:15 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.The Blues (6-5-2) and Comets (2-8-5) are third and seventh, respectively, in the blue division.
The Blues and St. Albert Bears (9-4-2), second in the blue standings, also face off Dec. 23 in the St. Albert Food Bank fundraiser game. Puck drop is 1:15 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena and a food bank box will be on site for donations.
Sharks at home
Friday the midget elite St. Albert Sharks face off against the Lloydminster Steelers in the Alberta Female Hockey League.Game time is 8:15 p.m. at Troy Murray Arena.
In the north division, the Sharks (7-4) sit third behind the Peace Country Storm (7-3-1) and Sherwood Park Fury (8-0-2) while the Steelers (3-8) are fourth.
Last weekend the Sharks doubled the North Central Impact 4-2 in St. Albert and edged the Edmonton Pandas 2-1 at Bill Hunter Arena.
Libby Langenhahn and Aidan Soltis tallied against the Pandas (1-6-2) and Laney Pasemko stopped a game-high 38 shots.
Annika Neset’s hat-tick was the difference against the Impact (2-8-1). Kirsten Legge also scored and Julianna Giacobbo added two assists. Shots were 39-8 for the Sharks and Layla Hood was in net.
Midget AA action
The St. Albert Blues have games scheduled on consecutive days this weekend in the Northern Alberta Midget AA Hockey League.Faceoff times are 8:45 p.m. Friday against the NEBC Yukon Trackers (11-1) at Mark Messier Arena and 5:15 p.m. Saturday against SSAC Don Wheaton (9-3-3) at Confederation Arena.
The Blues (5-5-3) are 2-1-2 in their last five games after the 5-4 win over the Whitecourt Wolverines (5-9-2) and 4-3 loss to the GPAC Storm (3-9-2) on the road last weekend.
Meanwhile, the defending NAMHL champion St. Albert Source for Sports Crusaders have a weekend bye in league play after posting victories of 3-0 against the Sturgeon Sting (10-3-2) Saturday in Morinville, as Cole Crozier faced 25 shots for his second shutout and the team’s fourth of the season, and 5-2 against Whitecourt on Sunday in St. Albert.
The Crusaders (13-2-2), winners of five in a row, are first overall in the 23-team NAMHL circuit.
The next game is Dec. 14 against the Sherwood Park Oilers (7-4-2) at 8:45 p.m. at Mark Messier Arena.
