Division 1A Impact

The St. Albert Impact 4 (Murphy) women’s team grabbed sole possession of first place in the division 1A table in Monday’s showdown with FC Excelsior in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Brittany Kindzierski, Kaitlyn Diduck and Katrina Bonnycastle scored and Kathleen Lang was in net as the Impact improved to 6-1-2 (40 GF/15 GA) in the 3-1 victory at Riel Park.

Kindzierski’s goal was her division leading 11th and Diduck ranks third overall with eight goals.

Last month, Excelsior (6-2-1,22 GF/12 GA) blanked the Impact 2-0.

The next Impact match is July 9 against FC Magic (1-6-1, 14 GF/32 GA) at 6:30 p.m. at Riel Park.

Premier Impact

The St. Albert Impact 2 (Bourbonnais/Brown) premier women’s team settled for a draw Sunday in Sherwood Park.

Shawna Sayaphet and call-up Jenaya Brown were the goal scorers in the 2-2 tie with Phoenix.

The Impact and Phoenix (4-5-2, 23 GF/23 GA) meet again July 3 at 8:15 p.m. at Riel Park.

The Impact were 4-3-3 (17 GF/13 GA) entering Tuesday’s match against Angels Scottish SC (5-5-1, 46 GF/27 GA) at Riel Park. The score was unavailable at press time.

Rangers soccer

The third loss in four matches for the St. Albert Rangers was Monday’s result in the division 1A men’s fixtures in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Ryan Sebastianelli and Noah Boyko scored in the 5-2 setback against Spruce Grove Saints/Man City (3-5, 13 GF/16 GA) at Fuhr Sports Park.

The Rangers (3-5-1, 17 GF/30 GA) were coming off Saturday’s 4-3 victory over host Croatia Hajduk (2-4-1, 11 GF/14 GA) as Sebastianelli slotted the winner in the last minute of play.

Mike Thompson and Dan Czwartkowski also found the back of the net.

On tap for the Rangers is the July 9 match against FC Fizi (0-6, 4 GF/21 GA) at 6:30 p.m. at ESA Complex.

Junior AAA Cardinals

Sunday’s doubleheader for the junior AAA St. Albert Cardinals in Fort Saskatchewan coincided with the team’s last game in the Tigers Baseball Association tournament.

A split squad of Cardinals played in the 11-8 loss to the Calgary Longhorns at Legion Memorial Park and the 11-10 loss to the Fort Saskatchewan Red Sox.

The Cardinals regrouped later in the day to beat the Red Sox 7-6.

The Cardinals (8-3) and Red Sox (4-6) are first and fourth, respectively, in the Baseball Alberta junior AAA league.

The Cardinals are back on the diamond Sunday for two games against the host Barrhead Orioles (4-4) at 10 a.m. and I p.m.

In tournament action, the Cardinals dropped two pool A games Saturday by scores of 5-4 to the Longhorns and 6-2 to the senior AAA Tigers.

Jake Enright, the 2017 Baseball Alberta midget AA player of the year, cracked two homers against the Longhorns in pool play and Andrew Odegard walloped a three-run blast in the second tilt with the Calgary squad.

Crude win two

The St. Albert Crude equalled their longest winning streak of the season with two victories at Akinsdale Arena last weekend in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The junior B Tier I Crude (5-11) end a five-game losing streak in Friday’s 14-11 outcome against the Barracuda Fish (1-15) of Regina.

Dustin Herman struck four times and Kolby Nester potted a pair and added six assists to pace the attack.

Guerin Nollski and Taylor Dion tallied twice and picked up four assists apiece. Zach Crockett also potted a pair while Justin Murray and Jesse Ott notched singles.

Mathieu Gautier, an affiliate with the midget A St. Albert Rams, fired the overtime winner in Sunday’s 13-12 decision against the Sherwood Park Titans (2-13).

Brock McIntyre’s one goal and seven assists, hat-tricks by Herman and Jorden McCuaig and two goals by Ott sparked the offence.

Nollski recorded one goal and four assists and Crockett and Nester also scored.

The Crude have four games remaining in league play, starting July 3 against the Titans at 9 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
