This association provides support and education for individuals and their families living with developmental disabilities. Help them by volunteering at their fundraising casino, March 16 and 17.
Do you have some time to spend with an individual who has a chronic disability, helping sort through some belongings in the home? This short-term project involves no heavy lifting and should take approximately one month to complete. Your assistance would be invaluable to this individual.
Be a part of this much needed community service and work as part of the warehouse team. Some lifting involved and warehouse or forklift experience preferred. This individual will help the warehouse supervisor and take over the supervisor role once per week.
Are you a positive individual and enjoy being with seniors? This Edmonton organization provides day programs to help keep seniors independent and active. Volunteers are needed to help with various recreational activities such as crafts, cards, other games and general socializing.
This vibrant community’s 150th Anniversary is in 2011 and planning is under way for yearlong celebrations that will cherish the past, honour the present and ignite the spirit of the future. Volunteers are needed to sit on the following sub-committees and help plan these celebrations: communications, marketing, advertising and media relations; volunteer recruitment and co-ordination; youth, partner/operations support; sponsorship, gala events and cultural event planning for a homecoming; a river valley picnic and a heritage camp/arts symposium event. If you have planning experience in one or more of these areas and some time to assist, call and join the team.
Do you enjoy working with children and youth? Volunteer to be a soccer coach — lots of age groups to choose from. Coach four-year-olds where your main role is to coax and encourage the beginners in the game or other age groups right through to the older teens. The outdoor season runs April through June and both recreational and competitive coaches are welcome. Coach courses and training are offered and available, but not mandatory. Make a difference in a young person’s life.
