Do you have a passion for the arts, event planning or supporting youth? Be a part of this youth advisory committee and help to guide, organize and realize the vision set for this local St. Albert festival. Assist in areas of marketing, event planning, volunteer relations, production and more for the 2017 festival. As part of this committee, you'll guide, organize and realize the vision set for the festival. Meetings are twice a month at St. Albert Place, and the festival is in October 2017. Do you enjoy swimming and working with children? Assist participants in swimming lessons with mastering the skills by demonstrating the skill, supervising group activities and working one on one with some swimmers, all under the direction of the lead instructor. Also help with class set up and putting equipment away. You must complete a course for instructing, prior to starting to volunteer. Minimum age is 12 years of age.

Do you enjoy music and like sharing it with other people? Volunteers play their musical instruments to provide opportunities for motivational, supportive, and/or therapeutic benefits to enhance quality of life for the residents. You will encourage residents to join in by singing, clapping or tapping toes. Some residents may not participate, but still enjoy the music. This facility is located in North Edmonton. Minimum age to volunteer is 15.

Do you love crafting? Your skills are needed to help create the decorations that will be used at the Avenue of Hope Gala in February 2017. Experience is preferred, but not necessary. There will be on-site instruction and support at each craft night leading up to the gala. This is an ongoing opportunity from now until the end of February. It is open to groups, individuals, teams and parents with children eight and up.

Be a Reading Buddy to a child in grades 2 to 6 who needs a little extra help and encouragement in his or her reading. Program will run Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Tuesdays 4 to 5 p.m., looking for teen buddies between the ages of 14 and 17, and Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. looking for either teen or adult buddies.

Make science sizzle. Help others discover the world and beyond as you guide visitors through interactive learning opportunities within dynamic exhibit galleries. This is a great opportunity to share your love of science and/or technology with others. Themed exhibits include: Health, Space, Environment, Discoveryland, and more. The featured exhibit is, Angry Birds Universe: The Art & Science Behind a Global Phenomenon. All you need is an engaging personality, good communication skills and be at least 15 years of age with Grade 9 Science.

Do you enjoy working with children and having fun in a crowd? The St. Albert RCMP has a mascot named Monty the Safety Bear, who does not speak but poses for pictures, gives out high fives and hugs. If you are at least 15 years old and under five-feet, nine inches, (due to the length of the costume) you could be the next Monty. Position takes place at different event locations in St. Albert and you will always be accompanied by an officer.
