The St. Albert Community Information & Volunteer Centre has many volunteer opportunities to choose from and can help find the right fit for you, even if you are not sure of what that might be. Are you a patient and caring person who relates well to the elderly? Assist residents at a local long-term care facility, with recreational activities such as accompanying them on outings or helping with games, crafts, gardening, etc. Feel good as you develop a relationship with the residents, which will help them to see the power within themselves and express their feelings. Flexible hours are available.

Are you fluent in English and have a good knowledge of the Edmonton area? Volunteer in this term position where you will help an immigrant youth to practice their English language skills, help them to learn about our Canadian culture, social norms and community resources, and assist them with life skills development. You should enjoy working with youth as a positive role model and have very good interpersonal skills. Commitment is one day per week until the end of August.

Experience the joy of helping families in need this summer and fall. You’ll get to work with plants, trees, dirt, rocks and sod, and with others who are passionate about their communities. Beginners to trades people are welcome, training and leadership provided.

Help this organization that helps families overcome the financial barriers that prevent some kids from participating in organized sport. Assist in various roles at this road race, taking place at the Edmonton City Centre Airport on Sunday, July 15.

Assist to porter residents to and from the hair salon in a local long-term care facility. Hair stylist may require some assistance as well. You should enjoy visiting with residents and be able to cope with residents with dementia and physical limitations. Minimum age is 16 years of age and shifts are available Wednesday, Thursday or Friday mornings.

Help to make St. Albert a more secure and safe place to live every day. Assist with the preparation and packing of food orders and barricades for block parties in our city. You should be able to lift and carry 15 kilograms. Position takes place mid-May until the end of August, during the day on Fridays.

Do you enjoy working with children and are you at least 16 years of age? Assist the coordinator with planned activities and day trips at this local summer camp. The camp operates Monday through Friday, daytime, and you should be available to volunteer a minimum of one day per week.
