Help cultivate community spirit and volunteer at St. Albert’s winter festival, Feb. 19. Help with site activities, information kiosks, face painting, set up and takedown, or be an event greeter. Volunteer as an individual, a couple or as a family. Assistance is also needed on the organizing committee. Be a part of this fun-filled event that inspires community spirit for the young and young at heart.
Are you an experienced cook or chef? Inspire action and compassion within yourself and help this organization by working closely with the volunteer nutritionist and support and outreach team. You will be creating lunchtime meals for clients with food allergies or intolerance and special dietary needs. Commitment is weekly on Wednesdays.
Help St. Albert welcome Special Olympics athletes and their families from across Canada, Feb. 28 to March 3. Photographers are needed to help record the event. You must have your own camera that captures high resolution, high quality images and lenses that are suitable for shooting sports in both indoor and outdoor environments. Help to make the memories last and be a part of the excitement of a national Games experience in our city.
Be a part of the Relay For Life and help celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and find a cure for the disease. The St. Albert event takes place June 9, but volunteers are currently needed for project work leading up to the event and to help with organizing. Help show St. Albert’s community spirit by lending a hand to this major event.
Habitat for Humanity has started the build at Aurora Place and needs you. This is a great opportunity to get involved in our community, learn new skills, work in a team and contribute to the future home of a local family. Skill range can be anything from beginner to trained tradespeople. Orientation and training will be provided for all. Sign up as an individual or as part of a group. Join and experience the satisfaction that comes from lending your hands and heart to a family in need.
Put your needles and hooks to work for a great cause. More than 650 athletes will go for gold at the 2012 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in February. Show them your support by hand-knitting or crocheting a cozy scarf, one that will become a treasured keepsake well after the Games come to a close. Scarves need to be made to certain measurements and colours. Participate in this fun and worthwhile project, as the scarves are made with love and worn with pride.
