A St. Albert man was tied up and beaten in his own home after three masked men forced their way through his front door last Wednesday evening. The violent invasion occurred in North Ridge at roughly 8 p.m.
A St. Albert man was tied up and beaten in his own home after three masked men forced their way through his front door last Wednesday evening.
The violent invasion occurred in North Ridge at roughly 8 p.m., when the 41-year-old male resident answered his door, only to find three male suspects who allegedly rushed into the home and grabbed him.
St. Albert RCMP Cpl. Laurel Kading said in a press release the suspects tied the homeowner up and beat him.
“The home invasion is still in the very early stages of the police investigation,” she said. “This incident is extremely rare to happen in St. Albert and is not believed to be a random event.”
She said the suspects, who wore dark clothing, toques and masks, ransacked the home and left shortly after 10 p.m. The homeowner was then able to get help from a neighbour who contacted police.
General duty RCMP officers responded at roughly 10:30 p.m. and additional officers from St. Albert’s general investigation section as well as K Division’s forensic investigation section were called in.
The man was taken to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton for treatment.
Kading could not be reached for further comment by press time.
