The City of St. Albert bestowed an ancient honour on the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) Saturday, when the regiment was granted the Freedom of the City.
Several thousand packed St. Albert's downtown to take in the historic ceremony, parade and review of the troops with Mayor Nolan Crouse. That was followed by a celebration and barbecue in Riel Park, ending with the Strathconas famous Musical Ride.
