Four hockey players killed in the Humboldt bus tragedy will be remembered together at a public celebration of life in Edmonton next week.
Parker Tobin, Jaxon Joseph, Logan Hunter and Stephen Wack will be remembered together at the service at Rogers Place Tuesday April 17 at 1 p.m.
Joseph, Hunter, and Wack are from St. Albert while Tobin is from Stony Plain.
The celebration of life is open to the public and will be general admission but the event will be ticketed. Floor seating is reserved for family and invited guests.
Tickets for the event are free and there is a limit of four seats per transaction. Rogers Place is asking the public to only secure the number of seats they are sure to use.
Doors will open at noon and guests are encouraged to arrive early.
The families have asked that in lieu of flowers and sticks, that donations be directed to STARS Air Ambulance, www.stars.ca.
The city of St. Albert is providing free park and ride shuttle service from Servus Place in St. Albert to Rogers Place for the memorial. In lieu of fares and at the request of the families, St. Albert Transit will accept donations to STARS Air Ambulance service.
Shuttles will depart from the main entrance of Servus Place at 11:30 a.m. and continue every 15 minutes until 12:15 p.m. Return trips will depart from the main entrance of Rogers Place at 2:30 p.m. and continue until 3:15 p.m.
Fundraising for the 29 people involved in the crash continues to climb with $10.8 million raised through GoFundMe by more than 124,000 people in six days.
The players are among 16 people killed in the bus crash near Tisdale, Sask. that happened on Friday, April 6. Dayna Brons, 24, died in hospital on Thursday. She was the Broncos' athletic trainer and the only woman on the bus.
Members of the Broncos were from communities across western Canada.
