St. Albert residents were warned of a possible 30 C today, Wednesday.
They were also warned this could be an Environment Canada-fuelled mirage, which apparently has come to pass.
Currently it’s 12.5 C at the Villeneuve weather station with a light air of 8 km/h out of the northwest.
Conditions across the Edmonton region are mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers later this afternoon.
There is risk of a thunderstorm.
Winds are expected to pick up with the expected weather with a moderate breeze of 20 km/h coming out of the south and buffeted by gusts up to 40 km/h.
The high will reach just 26 C with a humidex reading of 28, not quite the 30 C ECCC was expecting earlier in the week.
The 30 per cent chance of showers continues into Wednesday evening, as does the risk of a thunderstorm. A few showers are expected later in the night, ending after midnight with partly cloudy conditions taking over.
The wind will remain at 20 km/h sustained but the gusts could increase to between 40 and 60 km/h. Tonight’s overnight low is expected to dip to 10 C.
