This Saturday the St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association (SASHA) will host a community get-together at Kingswood Park from 11a.m. - 2 p.m.

The event is part of the Hike or Bike for Hospice fundraiser, which started May 5 and ends today.

"Special guests include Mayor Cathy Heron ... a representative from the St. Albert Public Library, and the St. Albert Photography Club. There will be an opportunity to enjoy a reflective walk around Kingswood Park, and meet others in the community who have a passion for palliative care. There will be refreshments, plus participant and door prizes," says a press release from the organization.

SASHA's goal is to raise $20,000 towards the purchase of two Centrella Smart Beds, which detect heart rate and respiratory rate.

"SASHA purchased and donated one bed in 2023, and has now partnered with Covenant Foundation to jointly purchase four more beds," the release says. "These amazing 'smart' beds, [provide] the ultimate comfort to those who need it most and [create] a higher quality of life throughout their last days."
