RCMP are looking for two men in an early-morning shooting in Sturgeon County Saturday that saw a man airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Morinville RCMP received a 911 call of a firearms complaint involving a man who had been shot in Sturgeon County at 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, RCMP said in a statement released Aug. 27. Const. Patrick Lambert said medical teams were already at the scene when officers arrived.
The victim, a 30-yr-old man, was taken by helicopter to an Edmonton-area hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, Lambert said.
Alberta RCMP put out a notice at around 4 a.m. Aug. 27 about a heavy police presence near Lily Lake Resort, which is between Legal and Redwater. Police ordered area residents to shelter in place as they investigated.
RCMP lifted the shelter-in-place order at around 9 a.m. Saturday, but stayed on site as they continued their investigation.
Lambert said police are now looking for two persons of interest in connection to the shooting. Both are described as male, in their mid-20s, one with blonde hair and the other wearing a ski mask.
Lambert said police have yet to recover the firearm used in this incident, and advised residents not to approach the persons of interest if they see them.
