Province reports three more St. Albert deaths, drop in COVID cases

Three more St. Albert residents have died from the virus, and active COVID-19 cases have dropped by nearly 100, the province reported on Thursday.

Three more St. Albertans have died from the virus, according to the province, bringing the total number of deaths in the city to 64.

Sturgeon County COVID cases also dropped. The province reported 181 active cases of the virus in the county compared to 209 reported on Monday. There were no new COVID-related deaths in the county; the total number remained at 17.

Data from the province showed Morinville's active COVID-19 cases dropped to 60 compared to the 71 reported on Monday. The number of people who have died from the virus remained at 14.

Both hospitalizations and the number of people with COVID in ICU increased since Monday. Data from the province showed 126 people were in ICU, compared to 118 reported Monday. The province reported there were 1,586 people in hospital with the virus compared to 1,542 people reported on Monday.

The province reported Alberta-wide COVID cases had dropped to 25,339 on Thursday from 33,879 reported by the province earlier in the week.

Data from the province indicated the positivity rate had dropped to 32.26 per cent down from 34.67 per cent reported on Monday.
