Police have now released a composite sketch of one of four men alleged to have robbed two teens last weekend.
The two teens were approached by four men near the Solo Liquor store, near St. Albert Trail and Gervais Road, early Saturday morning and told to leave, which they did, walking toward the Shopper’s Drug Mart.
It was outside the Shopper’s Drug Mart that the four men, driving a white mini-van, approached the two teenagers again. This time the four men got out and sprayed something, which the teens believe was mace, at them and demanded they empty their pockets.
The four men took a cellphone and wallet and left the scene. The incident didn’t do permanent damage to the teens, but police are still taking it very seriously.
“These two young fellows weren’t physically injured in this, but their faces and eyes and neck were extremely red and sore,” said St. Albert RCMP Cpl. Laurel Kading. “They definitely got a good blast of something in the face, which is pretty scary stuff.”
Kading said the sketch is the latest step forward in the investigation, but police could still use more information.
“They are still looking for leads, really we would like to locate these people. This is concerning that this kind of thing happens.”
The van the men were in was described as white Ford or Dodge model, between 2005 and 2007. It had tinted windows.
The men are all believed to have been of Lebanese descent. Two of them were approximately six-feet tall and the other two were shorter, around five-foot-three.
The sketch is of one of the taller man. Kading said he was both the driver of the vehicle and the person who sprayed the chemical on the teenagers.
Anyone with any information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700.
