One St. Albertan dies; city's COVID-19 numbers increase

Sturgeon County and Morinville saw a drop in COVID-19 cases last week, the province reported on June 15.

One St. Albertan has died and COVID-19 case numbers increased in the city, the province reported yesterday.

The seven-day case rate (per 100,000) from June 7-13, is 34.5, compared to the 28.7 reported on June 6.

There were 24 new COVID cases in St. Albert from June 7-13. Twenty cases were reported the week prior. 

There was one new COVID death in the city. The number of St. Albertans who have died from COVID, to date, is 84. 

Sturgeon County COVID cases decreased. The seven-day case rate (per 100,000) from June 7-13 was 16.9, compared to 28.6 seven-day case rate the week prior.

There were five new COVID cases in the county, compared to the eight cases reported the week prior. 

There have been no new COVID deaths in the county. The number of people who have died from the virus remains at 18. 

Morinville saw a drop in COVID cases. Data from the province reported on June 15 showed the seven-day case rate (per 100,000) at 17.5 compared, to the 61.3 reported on June 8.

There were two new COVID cases in Morinville, and seven the week prior. 

The number of people who have died from COVID in Morinville, to date, remains at 16.

The average PCR test positivity rate from June 7-13 fell to 13.21 per cent from 15.14 per cent the week prior. 

Hospitalization dropped by nearly 100. A total of 719 people were hospitalized with the virus in Alberta, as reported on June 15 — a drop from the 816 people hospitalized with COVID the week prior.

The number of people in ICU with COVID also dropped. Nineteen people were admitted to the ICU from June 7-13, down from 24 the week prior. 

Twenty-four Albertans died from COVID-19 from June 7-13. The total number of Albertans who have died from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic is 4,591.
