The owners of the private clinic also own Jasper Avenue Medical Clinic in Edmonton.
“We’re planning to have it function as a multi-disciplinary family practice,” says clinic business manager Houssam Sassi.
The clinic will be staffed with three family physicians, and there is talk of bringing on specialists such as a pediatrician in the near future, he says.
Space for an in-house pharmacy has also been constructed, but is still vacant for the time being.
The former location of The Rink was leased in April and has been undergoing renovations since.
The 4,400 square foot space has been refurbished to include 12 exam rooms, six physician offices and two treatment rooms.
“The capacity and the potential here is significant. Primary care in general will be enhanced,” says Sassi.
People have already dropped by the clinic or phoned in to make appointments, remarked staff.
“People are letting us know there is a need for more doctors in St. Albert,” adds Sassi.
Rivercrest Medical Clinic will be open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To book an appointment call 780-569-5030.
This is the second medical clinic in St. Albert to open this year. The McKenney Medicentre opened in January.
