A 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital after being struck crossing 100th Avenue in Morinville last week.

Police and ambulance responded last Wednesday when the girl was struck in a marked crosswalk on 100th avenue near 99 Street. The girl was crossing with two other people when the vehicle hit her.

On Monday, Staff Sgt. Mac Richards said the girl was expected to recover from her injuries, which consisted of some broken bones and bruises.

He said police are still investigating the accident, but have ruled out alcohol and weather as possible factors in the collision. The accident happened around 4:30 p.m.

An RCMP collision analyst was brought in right after the accident took place and is assisting with the investigation.

The road has seen pedestrian collisions in the past. In addition to being the town’s main street it is also a provincial highway.
