The St. Albert Merchants have their work cut out for them tonight as the team heads into game five of the Capital Junior Hockey League championship series against the Sherwood Park Knights.

The Knights currently lead the best-of-seven series 3-1, meaning the Knights could hoist the league trophy for the second consecutive year with a win tonight.

The Merchants are looking for their first championship since the 2004-2005 season, and seventh overall league title.

The Knights claimed the first two games of the series on March 19 and March 22 with 3-1 and 3-2 victories respectively.

The Merchants came out on top in game three on March 24 after a tight game needed two overtime periods to determine a winner.

The Knights took a 3-1 series lead with an overtime win on March 26.

Owen Bourque is currently leading the playoff scoring race for the Merchants with 10 points in 12 games, with additional scoring help coming from Carter MacDonald and Dylan McFatridge, who each have nine points in 12 playoff games for the Merchants.

The Knights are being led by forward Ben Wolyshniuk, who has 16 points in just 11 games.

Puck drop for game five tonight is 7:30 p.m. at Jarome Iginla Arena in St. Albert.

The Gazette will have more coverage of the Merchants playoff series in this Thursday's print edition.
