Lightning hitting the region this afternoon has caused three localized power outages in Sturgeon County and Lamont County, power provider Fortis Alberta is reporting.

One outage is located near Fort Saskatchewan, and according to the company's outage map, is affecting just 14 customers, although the company posted on that the outage was impacting an additional 900 customers earlier today as a tree had fallen on a power line.

Another ongoing outage is located south of Lamont and is affecting some 475 customers, while the third is just off Highway 16 near Goose Lake and is affecting another 14 customers.

Restorations are underway for all three locations, Fortis' outage map says.
