The St. Albert Singers Guild has been going strong for more than three decades here in this city, but the group is hoping to spread the love across the pond in a few months. To do so, they need your help raising the green to back it.
“This spring we are heading to Ireland in an effort to bring a little of Canada to the Emerald Isle. It is exciting to think that 52 singers from St. Albert will be taking their songs, their energy, their curiosity and excitement across the ocean,” said general manager Verla Carter.
To that end, the guild is hosting an Irish Night fundraiser on the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day.
The Irish Night event on Friday, March 15, at the St. Albert United Church. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each. The event includes Irish Stew Dinner, silent auction and door prizes, plus entertainment, not the least of which will be a sing-along. Call 780-418-4184 or email [email protected] for details.
Cold treats to warm the heart

The best reason of all is to help the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation.Thursday is the second annual JMMF Blizzard Day at the Morinville location of Dairy Queen. Proceeds from the sale of the frosty desserts will go to benefit the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation during the drive.
Last fall, the foundation broke ground on Jessie’s House, a first stage emergency shelter for individuals and families fleeing spousal abuse. It is expected to open in 2020. Otherwise, the JMMF works to improve the health and lives of community members through a variety of awareness, prevention and education efforts.
