A high-risk offender has been released back into the community
The St. Albert RCMP issued a warning Thursday about the release of Donald George Dupuis, who finished his 12-month sentence for sexual interference of a child.
Dupuis, 39, will be living in St. Albert and is described as a Caucasian male, who is five-foot-eleven, weighs 230 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Dupuis has been convicted of multiple offences including sexual interference of a child, assault, domestic violence, assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, assault causing bodily harm and intimidation.
The RCMP said in a media release it is issuing the warning after "careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Dupuis. The RCMP believes that there is a risk of significant harm to the health and safety of the public."
The warning is intended to enable residents to take precautionary measures and not to pursue vigilante action, the RCMP added.
