Some sales in St. Albert have a history of almost 10 years, such as the Elmer S. Gish Baby and Tot Items Sale. The school is celebrating its anniversary sale next spring. But if you don’t want to wait that long, you can already head to their fall sale on Saturday, Oct. 19 for some gently used baby and tot items.
The sale is taking place from 9 a.m. until noon at 75 Akins Dr. Organizer Georgia Atkins said it is held at the school’s gymnasium again, with an extension of sales tables into the main hallway. Visitors can expect to see about 31 vendors offering gently used baby items.
“We have pretty much anything for babies and toddlers, clothes, strollers, it depends on what everybody brings … but it’s quite extensive and we had toddler beds at the last sale as well,” she said.
Admission is $1 for adults, with all of the money going into funding for new playground equipment at the school. Atkins said they are expecting about 500 people to attend the event.
She added that line-ups start to form at the doors before 9 a.m. If you arrive early, you have more of a selection of items to choose from, she said but there are always things left at noon.
“And we do store things in the office for people,” she said. “If you buy things from multiple vendors and have your arms full then we will store things in the office so you can look around.”
This year, Gish will collect unsold items at the end of the sale for a donation to the food bank. Those baby and tot items will then be given to families in need.
Those who don’t have a table but still want to donate items to the sale can also bring them to the school on Friday. Gish will sell the items on Saturday with all funds going to the playground extension.
