If you felt the earth move in St. Albert at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, you weren’t alone.
Natural Resources Canada reported an earthquake occurred near Fox Creek, a couple of hundred kilometres northwest of St. Albert. The magnitude was 4.5 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake was “lightly felt in Fox Creek, and St. Albert” according to the National Resources Canada website as of late Tuesday afternoon. The site said there are no reports of damage.
Some at the Gazette and on social media reported feeling the quake.
Media reports at press deadline indicated Alberta Energy Regulator had confirmed the earthquake was caused by hydraulic fracking.
