Updated: Facebook and Instagram available again for most users

UPDATE:

Two hours after hundreds of thousands of Facebook. Instagram and Threads users reported not being able to access their accounts on downdetector.ca, those numbers have dwindled to around 5,000 users. Around 8 a.m. on March 5 reports reports starting flooding in of Meta's social media platforms being down. By 10 a.m. the number of reports of people not being able to see their Facebook account, which had the highest number of people reporting they were not able to see their account, was below 6,000.

Hundreds of thousands of people reportedly are unable to access Facebook and Instagram this morning.

The website downdetector.ca has had more than 125,000 people report that they are unable to access their Facebook accounts since 8 a.m. on March 5. 

Instagram, which is also owned by Meta, is also showing over 25,000 reports of people not able to access that social media site. 

Andy Stone, a communications official with Meta, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter that they are working on the problem.
