A Morinville man is facing second-degree murder charges following a street fight that left one man dead.
Elias Simon, 21, has been charged with the murder of Morgan Drew Arcand-Faithful and is being held without bail until a court appearance on Thursday.
Arcand-Faithful’s death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy last Thursday morning, but a cause of death was not released.
RCMP responded to a report of a fight shortly after 11 p.m. April 4 on the 9900 block of 103 Street in Morinville. Police said a man was found on scene with a visible wound.
Emergency workers arrived within minutes but Arcand-Faithful was pronounced dead at the scene.
The RCMP are still investigating the case and are asking anyone who saw either Arcand-Faithful or Simon on the night of April 4 to contact them at 780-939-4550. Police are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who might have seen either man around the time of the incident, said Morinville RCMP Sgt. Mark Mathias.
Officers believe the two knew each other and were likely together that night, but police aren’t sure where they were prior to the altercation.
