A local women’s boutique recently launched its first clothing line, with the Northern Alberta climate in mind.
Kelsey and Jill Bulmer, owners of Cerulean Boutique, said they now have the first piece of the Prairie Collection available at their store. The Sophie tank was designed by local employee and designer Julia Shore, and can worn as a second skin in the winter, and as a top in the summer.
“We found that when we bought in New York and L.A. that the designers don’t design warm enough for our winters and for our summer,” said Kelsey Bulmer. “So we just designed a great fitting tank top that brought all of the attributes into one style.”
The tank top, named after the store’s poodle, is available in fall and winter colours and costs $35. Bulmer said that it's made from a nylon and spandex blend and was designed to stretch, which makes it comfortable to wear with a bra and fits most body sizes.
In the future, the mother and daughter team hopes to expand their collection and branch out to other stores. For now the top is available at Cerulean Boutique at 12 St. Joseph St.
After more than 20 years in their McKenney Avenue location, Klondyke Flowers shop owner Theresia Hansen decided to move the business to a new spot in town.
The St. Albert flower shop is now located at 19 Bellerose Dr., in the Inglewood Town Centre strip mall.
Thanks to an added 400 square feet (the store has a total of 1,600 square feet), Hansen said Klondyke now has a bigger cooler in the front room and more space to display their product.
“I can expand my gift line, I can handle more flowers and plants and our cooler is a lot bigger than in the other location,” she said. “Now I can get everything in our front cooler so we have a bigger display.”
Hansen said the shop’s lease at their McKenney Avenue location was up so they decided to move to a new location. Klondyke originally started out at St. Albert Centre 32 years ago. The shop can be reached at 780-458-4610.
Little Caesars Pizza is opening a second location in St. Albert at the end of December.
Owner Rajesh Sharma said a specific date has not been set but customers can expect the same service and menu they came to know at their first location at 2 Hebert Rd.
Sharma said Little Caesars decided to open another location based on the growing number of residents in the city, and people from surrounding communities driving into the community to shop and eat.
“St. Albert has a population of almost 70,000 and it’s growing on all ends,” he said.
The new 4,000 square feet franchise will open next to Solo Liquor at 525 St. Albert Trail, the same location that will house GoodLife Fitness, Visions Electronics and Central Social Hall.
