New beginnings
A new women’s clothing store has opened in St. Albert.
Brad Leyden, president of Revolution Boutique, said he decided to open the store after noticing some of his customers travelled from St. Albert to his location in Sherwood Park.
“We attracted so many clients from that area, and they kept asking for their own store,” he said. “I thought, 'Why are the St. Albert women travelling so far just to have this experience?' ”
The store in Sherwood Park opened in 2011. Along with his then-wife, the duo ran the apparel store, with Leyden pursuing other business ventures along the way.
At the time, the store sold both men's and women’s apparel, but Leyden said the business model wasn’t working.
In 2015, Leyden’s job at a car dealership took a hit. Since people started saving money over spending it on a new vehicle, he decided to focus back on Revolution Boutique.
“Somehow my store – even despite the economy – miraculously got its way to, you know, kind of a break-even sort of situation,” he said.
After buying out his ex-wife’s shares in the business a few years ago, Leyden started conceptualizing what it would look like to open a second apparel store in St. Albert.
Leyden said he noticed there weren’t many affordable boutiques in the city for older women and saw an opportunity.
On March 18, the store opened. He said the first week was a busy one.
“What we have is a beautiful, incredible store with incredible staff,” he said.
The store is located at #335, 140 St. Albert Tail and is open from Monday to Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More bang for your buck
ATB in Morinville has made a move.
Now located on 100 Street next to Legendary Liquor, the franchise is able to offer more services, like 24-hour access to ATM machines.
Nicole Howells, customer service specialist, says the space offers more services than the old location. The space is three times larger than the previous one, with just over 1,000 square feet to its name.
“We just have a lovely little location now, truthfully it's really upbeat,” she said.
Now customers can help themselves to coffee and then take a seat in the large sitting area. The new ATB location also has a meeting room for staff.
Alicia Sero and husband Shane Sero bought the business last February. Before that, Alicia had been working at ATB Financial as the branch manager.
In 2017, ATB Financial won Small Business of the Year at the Morinville Annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala.
