The Vinyl Rock CafĂ© opened Friday at #50, 24 Perron Street, the former location of Arcadia CafĂ©. It’s a European-style coffee shop playing retro music and classic rock ’n’ roll, said owner Alex Calado.
The cafĂ©’s restaurant serves soup and sandwiches, goulash and a range of appetizers, including seafood and vegetarian and vegan dishes, he said.
“We will have some nice coffee here, we will have some nice food, and some very nice casual vinyl rock in the background,” said Calado.
Vinyl Rock Café will be open Monday to Sunday. For more information visit its Facebook page, Vinyl Rock Café.

Taste of Ukraine is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. To honour the restaurant’s birthday, they’re now offering more perogies than usual, said owner Orysia Wozniak.
For each year in business, the family created a special Western-style perogy, now featured on the menu. Taste varieties include everything from sweet potato and beef, to spinach and chicken, and deep-fried chocolate perogies with ice cream for dessert.
The restaurant now also offers a do-it-yourself kit for people who prefer to make their own perogies at home. The kit costs $12 and includes pre-rolled and cut dough and a basic filling.
Taste of Ukraine is located at 516 St. Albert Trail. For more information go to tasteofukraine.com.
