St. Albert is getting another thrift store.
Value Village will be located at 18 Inglewood Dr., behind the new GoodLife Fitness club and Visions Electronics. The site previously housed a Rona store.
Value Village’s website says the grand opening is coming soon. The store could not be reached for information, but a sign on the building says the opening will take place on Aug. 7.
Value Village is a privately-held for-profit thrift store chain offering secondhand clothes and household items. The company has locations throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.
It receives its merchandise by paying money to non-profit organizations for donated clothing and household items, and through direct donation by individuals.
The majority of items that don’t sell at the stores are shipped to developing nations through both wholesale and philanthropic efforts, the company’s website explains.
Opening hours of the new St. Albert store will be Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
St. Albert is getting another burger chain.
Fatburger plans to open a location in the city in August, a company representative wrote in an email to the Gazette.
The company has not released any more information, but a city building report identifies the location as 10 McKenney Ave.
Fatburger was first created in 1952. The company prides itself on its fresh lean beef burgers, made from “not frozen” patties, based on information from its website.
The restaurant also offers onion rings “made from real onions”, “great tasting chili” and “hand-scooped, real ice cream shakes.” For more information go to fatburger.com.
