Classes are moving online on Wednesday at Bellerose Composite High School due to a bomb threat at the school.
The school said it "recently" received a bomb threat and contacted the RCMP as part of its threat assessment protocol, the school said in an email sent to parents Monday at 3:15 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing. The school said in the email to parents they cannot share many details, as the threat is part of an RCMP investigation, but said the school will be moving students online Wednesday.
The school building will be closed that day and staff will work offsite.
“The RCMP have launched an investigation, and while we can’t share many details with you because of this ongoing investigation, please be assured that as part of our commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment, we take all issues that may affect school and student safety seriously,” the email to parents said.
The school is working with the RCMP to ensure the building is safe, the email said, and is working for the students’ safe return to school on Monday, Nov. 15.
Students are not in school on Thursday and Friday because of Remembrance Day.
“We want to reiterate that we are taking these precautions as part of our commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment at Bellerose and we will continue to take all concerns regarding the safety of our staff and students seriously,” said the email sent to Bellerose parents.
