Abandoned by his owner, Percy was alone for at least 10 days with only water to drink. Thankfully he was found and brought to the Northern Alberta Society for Animal Protection (NASAP), where he will get the medical attention and care that he requires.
Percy seems to have some sort of spinal trouble, making him quite wobbly on his back legs but it doesn’t slow him down much. A thorough check-up determined that he may have been born with a defect or is affected by a degenerative disc disease.
Percy is slightly underweight, has an ear infection and a bladder full of stones resulting in a bladder infection. He is on medication for his infections and once the medications are finished, around the end of July, he will undergo surgery for a neuter and to remove his bladder stones. While he is under anesthetic, the vet will trim his elongated palate so he can breathe better.
Percy’s birthday is July 14. He’s now eight years old. He is a good little boy with a typical pug attitude. He likes attention and cuddles and prefers to have them all to himself. He is fine with other animals but is slightly food and person possessive, preferring to be the centre of most of the attention. Percy is house-trained, enjoys laying in the yard, car rides and going for short walks.
He can manage going down the stairs but struggles going up and usually has to be carried. He crates well but does suffer some mild anxiety when his foster family leaves. Percy’s vet bills will be expensive and we are asking for targeted donations toward his care. Gemma was a young mother cat that was living on the streets, raising four kittens on her own. Two caring and dedicated ladies worked very hard to gain the trust of the small family. They cared for all of them until they could come to NASAP. Gemma loves her new indoor-only lifestyle. She loves to play with her toys and string and she just loves to eat. She is a talkative lady who is very expressive. She has been spayed.
Gemma will require an adult-only home (now and in the future) with patient people who will allow her to settle in and blossom at her own pace. She is the type of cat that likes to be near you without bothering you. She appreciates and enjoys gentle petting from people that she knows and trusts. We think that she would be able to companion other friendly and calm animals after a proper introduction. Please inquire about adopting Gemma today.
