For anyone looking for home decorating or design ideas the Edmonton Fall Home Show promises to provide a cornucopia of them along with a touch of gourmet styling next weekend. On the marquee for this year’s show are some 200 brand-name companies and vendors as well as a selection of HGTV professional designers with renovating expertise. If you are hungry, there will also be a food stage hosted by local chefs and bakers. If you are tired, or thirsty, you can check out the Canadiana Wine Lounge. If you have the family with you, you might all like to visit the TELUS Future Home to try out the 3-D glasses and find out what the technology whizzes are thinking about now. “Whether you are into new construction or whether you are remodelling or perhaps looking for gifts or gadgets, the Edmonton Fall Home Show will have something for you,” said show manager Krysty Cairns. St. Albert businesses that will show their wares include Costco; Surface Concepts, whose salesmen will show displays about concrete countertops; and Cutco Cutlery with a showcase filled with knives. “There really will be a lot for people looking to upgrade. Especially in this economy, people are looking for ways to change up small spaces,” Cairns said. The main stage is dubbed the Urban Barn. This stage is where HGTV’s Kortney and Dave Wilson, the Masters of Flip will talk about how they flipped more than 60 homes. Design expert Tiffany Pratt will explain creative ways to use what you already have in your home. Cityline designer Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault will present her budget-savvy decorating tips as well. The audience will be invited to Ask A Designer questions, so participants are asked to bring photos and perhaps paint swatches to have an expert from Jostar Interiors, House of Interior Design or Distinct Interiors help with decision making. This portion of the Edmonton Fall Home Show will be on a first-come-first served basis with each person allotted a one-on-one, 15-minute time slot. A designer from Wicket Blue Interiors will explain what renovations are cost effective. The latest design trends from New York will be part of the discussion. A team of 10 designers from the Edmonton Mojo Design event will present the winning space from their own September show. Entertaining food Chef Chris Hrynyk from Sorrentinos, Chef Serge Belar of the Shaw conference Centre; Steve Buzak of the Royal Glenora Club and Gloria Bodnarz of The Art of Cake will explain some of the tricks of their trade. A variety of delicatessens and smokehouses will offer their savoury delights in the section called Food Alley. Edmonton Fall Home Show will be held at Edmonton Expo Centre Oct. 20-22.
