Tractor pull to draw in crowd

Farming enthusiasts are encouraged to come and see a slice of history at the Bremner House farm site Aug. 23 and 24.

Farming enthusiasts are encouraged to come and see a slice of history at the Bremner House farm site Aug. 23 and 24.

The historic site will play host to the annual Antique Tractor Pull and Show organized by the Strathcona Vintage Tractor Association (SVTA).

“There are usually about a hundred tractors in the show,” said Ray Schmidt, long-time member of the SVTA.

The tractors are all pre-1960 and will be taken through a number of old time farming events including hay baling, cutting, and threshing.

“The oldest tractor this year will be a rumbling 1924. We’ll be putting it through events, too.”

All ages are welcome and there will be a number of activities for children including sled rides and crafts.

Anyone thinking of stopping by is encouraged to bring a little cash for the outdoor market. Various tables will be set up selling everything from birdhouses to burgers.

“My favourite part of the event is the tractor pull,” said Schmidt.

“Seeing all of those old tractors run, it’s a piece of history. That’s why I keep coming back.”

Tickets to the event are $5 per person per day and will be sold at the Bremner House entrance. The Bremner House is located on Range Road 225, about 3.5 kilometres north of Highway 16.
