Reel Monday Movie Nights has spiced up the season with the critically acclaimed A Haunting in Venice.
Released in 2023, it’s a classic 40’s creepy whodunnit, blending mystery and horror, and is loosely based on the 1969 Agatha Christie novel Hallowe’en Party.
The plot takes place just a few years after the Second World War and Detective Hercule Poirot is now retired. He is invited to a seance in Venice. Reluctantly he attends, but when one of the guests is murdered, he steps out of retirement to unmask the killer.
The extensive cast features a who’s who of the film industry. They include Kenneth Branagh (Poirot), Michelle Yeoh (Joyce Reynolds), Jamie Dornan (Dr. Leslie Ferrier), and Tina Fey (Ariadne Oliver).
Friends of St. Albert Public Library host movie nights as a fundraiser. A Haunting in Venice runs just shy of two hours at the Arden Theatre, 5 St. Anne Street, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at the door.
