A Christmas Carol rings 15 bells

One of Edmonton's choice holiday traditions, A Christmas Carol celebrates its 15th performing anniversary at the Citadel Theatre.

A must-see production for young and old, it is the unforgettable tale of Scrooge captured with rich characters and dazzling special effects.

Director Bob Baker deftly navigates the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter old miser who is altered by supernatural visits from four spirits – that of his dead partner and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

In this cast of 21 professional actors James MacDonald has snagged the role of Scrooge. Julien Arnold and Kate Ryan are back as the loving Mr. And Mrs. Cratchit while Maralyn Ryan repeats her role as Mrs. Dilber, Scrooge's long-suffering housekeeper.

Former St. Albert actor John Kirkpatrick, returning from a six-month stint at the Shaw Festival, once again makes a frightening appearance as the spirit of Jacob Marley.

A Christmas Carol officially opens tomorrow night and runs until Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Tickets start at $30 and are available by calling 780-425-1820 or online at citadeltheatre.com.
